MASHPEE – Due to recent weather conditions and upcoming forecasts, the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe is postponing a conservation forum that was scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
The forum was for leading forestry management officials.
Officials said postponement was a difficult decision, but after closely monitoring weather reports and ground conditions, it was decided that the forum should be moved to next month.
The organizers are currently rescheduling the fire science and land management field trip and other forum activities for early March in the hopes that warmer weather will help melt some of the snow and allow forum participants better access to the Pine Barren woodlands that will be a centerpiece of the two-day forum.
The forum will still include county, state and federal officials; policy analysts and professors exploring the best ways to restore and manage Pine Barrens and the unique ecological habitat.
The new date has not yet been announced.
