Waquoit Bay Reserve to Host Resilient Landscaping Series

WAQUOIT – The Landscaping for Resilience Series is coming back to the Waquoit Bay Reserve this month.

The workshop features hardy Cape Codders and professional landscapers to teach participants how to handle lawn damage or other property damage due to a storm.

On Tuesday, October 23 the series hosts All About the Trees with featured speaker Russel Norton, an Agriculture and Horticulture Extension Educator at Cape Cod Cooperative Extension.

Norton will focus on how to properly asses your yard for hazards, as well as tree health assessments. He also will dive into how tree damage should be handled and which professionals are best for work that’s too difficult for the average homeowner.

Norton will also explain why trees are essential to the well-being of the Cape and what to expect with trees as a result of climate change.

On Wednesday, October 24 the series moves to Wrangling Rainwater on the Homestead and other Landscaping Choices for a Changing Climate.

Director of Education and Outreach at the Association to Preserve Cape Cod Kristin Andres is the featured speaker for this program. She explains some practical ways of managing storm water on your property, as well as ways to avoid property damage and sustain water quality.

The programs run from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Waquoit Bay Reserve Visitors Center.
