WAQUOIT – School vacation week is later this month and the Waquoit Bay Reserve will host several family activities.
Events will kick off on Tuesday, February 19 with a Winter Greens Walk from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Mashpee Town Beach lot.
Participants will hike along the boardwalks and bridges of the sheltered Flat Pond Trail and discover why some plants hold their color all year while others do not. Walkers might also spot an owl or two along the way.
“Is it Natural of Not?” will be held Wednesday, February 20 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Reserve Visitor Center.
Attendees will use powers of observation during a walk of the un-nature trail, play sight and sound games, and use the sniff test to figure out which things are natural and which are not.
The final program is Owl Discovery and Owl Pellet Dissection on Thursday, February 21 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Reserve Visitor Center.
Owl pellets and magnifying glasses will be provided as attendees will try to determine what the owl has eaten.
The program is great for children 6 and older and will be held rain, snow or shine.
For all programs, children must be accompanied by an adult.
Events are free and open the public.
