Winter Storm Watch Issued for Cape Cod; 4-7 Inches Possible Late Saturday Night

HYANNIS – The latest round of winter weather is heading toward the Cape and Islands this weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch from Saturday night through early Sunday morning.

Forecasters are predicting the snow to arrive late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, delivering 4-to-7 inches, with higher amounts west of Hyannis.

The main impact of the storm should be from 10 pm Saturday night through 5 am Sunday morning with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour possible from about 1 am to 4 am.

Heavy wet snow could result in isolated power outages especially near the rain snow line. Low visibility and difficult travel conditions are possible during that time.

Conditions are expected to improve quickly Sunday morning.
