Yarmouth Crime Watch Presentation on Avoiding Scams

YARMOUTH – A presentation on how to avoid falling into various scams will be hosted by the Yarmouth Neighborhood Crime Watch.

The Crime Watch Captains Meeting presentation will feature guest speaker Yarmouth Police Detective David Scheeweis.

The presentation will focus on how to identify and avoid falling for scam phone calls and emails that are meant to lure victims into revealing personal information or otherwise being exploited.

Though calls asking for donations, offering a prize, or indicating problems with a bank account may seem real, they are often opportunities to be fooled.

Crime Watch says that even though an individual may not fall for these scams, they may have elderly relatives or friends who may be more susceptible.

The presentation is a public meeting and will be held Wednesday, October 30 at the Yarmouth Senior Center.

Registration is at 6:30 pm, and the meeting itself starts at 7 pm.
