Police have found a truck they believe was involved in a hit and run crash earlier today.

YARMOUTH – Yarmouth police have the truck but not the driver in a hit and run earlier today.

At approximately 4 p.m., the Yarmouth Police Department located the truck involved in this morning’s school bus crash left abandoned in a driveway of a home in South Yarmouth that was unoccupied.

The driver of the truck has not been located.

Yarmouth Police have seized the vehicle and will impound it at Yarmouth Police Headquarters for forensic review and evidence analysis.

The truck is a 2002 GMC pick-up truck that hit a school bus and kept going earlier today.

At approximately 11 a.m., the Yarmouth Police and Fire Departments responded to the hit and run crash involving a small yellow school bus at the intersection of Winslow Gray Road and Forest Road in South Yarmouth.

Police officers said the truck had struck the rear of the bus and drove away. It was last seen southbound on Forest Road.

There were no serious injuries to the five students or the bus driver, or adult monitor, and a decision was made to escort the bus to Cape Cod Hospital for precautionary evaluations of all people on the bus.

Everyone on the bus was wearing their seat belts and the students ranging from age 7 to 12 are part of the Cape Cod Collaborative.

Those who may have information on the driver of the truck should call the Yarmouth Police Department at 508-775-0445 extension 0 or dial 911.
