COTUIT – Barnstable Post 206 righty Eric Holzman kept his unbeaten record this season (3-0) with a complete game three-hit shutout last night at Elizabeth Lowell Park, and defeated the visiting Rockland Post 147 team, 6-0.
Holzman struck out five and walked five in sweltering humidity but turned in his best inning in the sixth as he got stronger along the way.

Post 206 climbed into second place in the East Division with the win, one game behind Sandwich Post 188. Post 188 lost to Hingham Post 120 on Tuesday night, 7-2. Sandwich Post 188’s game against Marshfield Post 88 last night was postponed due to rain.
Barnstable leadoff man Drew Tardif (Massachusetts Maritime Academy) started off the first inning with a single, stole second and third base and then came home on a Mike Knell basehit for a 1-0 lead. Knell’s hit was followed with a Drew Gallant basehit and then Knell came home on a Chris Weber Texas Leaguer into shallow right for a 2-0 lead. Gallant came home on a Conor Walsh RBI-double.
Weber and Walsh each finished with a pair of RBI on the night. Weber went 1-1 with an RBI-single and sacrifice fly and Walsh hit a pair of RBI-doubles.
Tardif finished 2-4 with two stolen bases, Gallant was 1-2, Jackson Badot was 1-1 with a pinch-hit double and Dan Crossen went 2-3 with an RBI. Crossen also turned in a superlative defensive effort at the hot corner as did Weber at first base.
Barnstable Post 206 takes on Hawkeye Athletic Club (East Bridgewater) tonight at Lowell Park at 5:45 pm.
