Southpaw Drew Gallant maintained his poise on the hill for Post 206 en route to a complete-game, eight-strikeout performance for his first career American Legion victory. He walked two and scattered four hits while both runs he allowed were unearned.

Post 206 catcher Andrew Williams proved a formidable out once again as he drove in two runs with a two-out single in the second inning to tie it at 2-2, and then in the third inning Post 206 opened things up.

Jake Gleason (1-3, 2 RBI, SB) singled in Gary DiSarcina Jr. for a 3-2 lead to start off the top of the third inning and by the time the dust settled, Barnstable was up 6-2. Post 206 Rightfielder Cochran (2-3, RBI) laced an RBI-double to cap off the four-run rally.

Post 206 shortstop Knell – who went 4-5 on the day with five RBI – hammered a three-run homer in the fifth that took any steam Hingham had left right out of its sails. DiSarcina went 2-4 with two RBI and three runs scored in Post 206’s 14-hit attack.

Gallant finished his fine performance by striking out the side in succession to end the game.

Barnstable Post 206 returns to action on Sunday, July 5, at Lowell Park against Plymouth Post 40 (8-4).
