ROCKLAND – The District 10 West Division American Legion All-Stars jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning last night at Rockland Memorial Stadium and never looked back on the way to a 9-1 win over the East Division team in front of a sizeable and lively crowd, including dozens of collegiate scouts.

It was the 4th Annual District 10 American Legion all-star game and second straight at Rockland’s beautiful, circa-1940s ballpark.
Deadlocked in a scoreless tie after two frames, the West jumped on Wareham Post 220 righty Cam Coelho for three hits and a walk, combined with a key infield error and a sacrifice fly before Coelho got himself out of the frame with a two-out strikeout.
The West jumped ahead in the sixth inning with three more runs on four hits off of Pembroke Post 143’s Chris O’Connor for a 6-0 lead but the East bats simply could not solve the West’s pitching.
Hingham’s Bob Lawton received West Division Most Valuable Player honors after going 3-3 with a double and an RBI-single in the three-run rally in the third inning.
Kingston Post 387’s Adam Gay was tabbed for East Most Valuable Player honors after striking out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning and picking up a hit and a stolen base. He also played well in rightfield.
Sandwich Post 188 righty Joe Oriola struck out the side in the eighth inning but a pair of errors and a triple brought in two runs for the West (both unearned).
Barnstable Post 206 righty Eric Holzman tossed a scoreless fifth inning and needed just 10 pitches to retire the side. He struck out one.

Barnstable Post 206’s Jackson Badot and Drew Gallant each had basehits for the East and Perito and Couhig both added hits as well.
The West leads the series 3-1 over the East All-Stars.
