PLYMOUTH — The undefeated Barnstable High School gymnastics team may not have notched its highest score ever, but it was good enough last night to take home two wins from the road.
The Red Raiders, now 8-0, scored 138.20 in a tri-meet with Hanover High School and the co-op team of Plymouth North and Plymouth South High Schools, with Hanover scoring 120.40 and Plymouth North/South, 111.3.
Barnstable essentially dominated every aspect of the meet, with the Myrbeck twins – Hayley and Kayla – taking first and second place in the All-Around with respective scores of 35.2 and 34.9.
Kayla Myrbeck notched a 9.3 score for first place in the vault competition, followed by Lauren Hansen (9.2) and sister Hayley Myrbeck in third place with a 9.0.
The Red Raiders owned the uneven bars as well, with Alexa Wilson (9.3), Hansen (9.1) and Kayla Myrbeck (8.8) finishing in the top three slots in that order.
The balance beam proved Barnstable’s weak spot, however, with only Hayley Myrbeck placing, albeit in first place, and Lauren Galotti of Hanover High in second place at 8.5. Barnstable’s Abigail Chetwynd finished in third place at 8.1.
The Red Raiders picked up the top two places in the floor routine and tied for third place. Hayley and Kayla Myrbeck finished in first and second place, respectively, with scores of 9.0 and 8.9, while Hanover’s Galotti turned in an 8.4 performance to tie with Barnstable’s Hansen.
Barnstable’s next opponent is Bridgewater-Raynham on Tuesday.
