CARVER — To get to a championship, sometimes a team has to take each step forward one baby step at a time.
While certainly no stepping stone, the Carver High School gymnastics team found out firsthand Tuesday night just how focused on the end goal Barnstable (5-0) just might be. On the heels of a record-setting evening Monday night, the Red Raiders quickly dispatched the host Crusaders, 136.1-116.1.
Junior Tali Twomey turned in an impressive performance to pace the Red & White gymnasts. Twomey took a first place finish in the vault (9.3), a second place finish in the uneven bars (8.9), tid for second place on the balance beam (8.3), first place in the floor routine (8.9) and captured the all-around with a score of 35.4.
Barnstable’s Alexa Wilson vaulted her way to second place with a 9.2 leap and took first place in the uneven bars (9.0). She tied with Twomey on the balance beam with her score of 8.3.
Barnstable junior Jessica Biazzola notched a third place finish in the vault with a score of 8.5 to make it a clean sweep for the Red Raiders in that event. Sophomore Lauren Hanseon turned in an 8.4 on the uneven bars and took third place to make that a clean sweep as well for the Red & White.
