BOYS’ GOLF: Falmouth Defeats St. John Paul II on Links, Barnstable falls to St. John’s Prep, Sturgis East Picks up Win over Cape Tech

FALMOUTH – The Falmouth High School boys’ golf team (1-1) broke into the win column Wednesday at Falmouth Country Club with a 238-287 win over St. John Paul II (1-2), led by a one-under par 36 from junior Nolan Enneguess.

Clipper co-captain Sam Newman shot an even-par 37 right behind Enneguess as Falmouth tallied all six individual top scores that counted toward the final team score.

St. John Paul II (1-2) was led by three freshmen with Kristina Thimme shooting a 42, Patrick Armstrong with a 45 and Stone Johnson with a 49.

Barnstable Red Raiders Edged by St. John’s Prep on the Road

SALEM – St. John’s Prep (2-0) received an even-par 36 from James Turner and a one-over par 37 from Griffin Chenard yesterday afternoon at Salem Country Club as the hosts defeated Barnstable High (1-1), 230-240.

Chris Francoeur shot a two-over par 38, right behind Turner and Chenard, while Tom McGee fired a three-over par 39.

Barnstable’s Bobby Harrington shot a two-over par 38 from the second flight and matched evenly with Francouer, while Gary DiSarcina Jr. matched Jake Ewing with a 40. Caleb Axelson also shot a 40 for Barnstable and he tied Mark Turner from the first flight.

Barnstable will welcome St. John’s Prep for a rematch on October 9 at the Wianno Country Club in Osterville.

Joy and Rodricks Pace Sturgis East Storm Past Cape Tech Golfers

HYANNIS – Sturgis East senior co-captain Jared Joy was the medalist for the Storm yesterday at the Hyannis Golf Club with a 43, as East picked up its first win over Cape Cod Tech, 33-21.

Helping the Storm to its first Cape & Islands League win was junior co-captain Emily Rodricks who fired a 44.

Joy defeated Tech senior co-captain Jon Spahr, 7-2, followed by Rodricks over John Clark 6.5 to 2.5. Sturgis East’s Mitch Burns downed Tech’s Dan Puopolo by the same score, 6.5 to 2.5 while East’s Joey Colesano beat Tech’s Nick Packett, 5-4.

Sturgis East sophomore Andrew Williams matched Tech’s Zach Vaughn at an even 4.5 to 4.5.
