Falmouth Academy is now 11-0 on the season while Sturgis East fell to 1-5.

Charlotte Van Voorhis was equally as impressive for the host Mariners’ offensive front, as the fleet-footed attacker also netted a hat trick and added one assist on the day. Hannah Ginsberg and Jane Earley each tacked on a pair of markers in the effort.

Falmouth Academy staked itself a 12-0 halftime lead and Mariners’ goalie Kenzie Rogers notched one save before giving way to Maria Barrera who held her own in the second half with three saves in her first-ever varsity game between the pipes.

“We played a game of possession in the second half,” Falmouth Academy head coach Sarah Knowles said.

The Mariners’ Addy Hayman, Eliza Van Voorhis, Celie Mastroianni and Rogers (who went in as a midfielder in the second half) each scored single goals. Hayman added a pair of assists.

Sturgis East’s Isabel Tarr led the Storm with three goals of her own and teammate Jorgia Bergin added a pair. The Storm’s Jillian Doyle also scored as all of the visitors’ goals came in the second stanza.

Falmouth Academy has three regular season games remaining on the docket and heads to Cape Cod Academy Thursday for a 4:00 pm start.

Sturgis East has two regular season games left and next welcomes Cape Cod Academy on Monday (May 18) at the Sandy Pond Recreation Complex in West Yarmouth.
