Host Bristol-Plymouth Regional Tech, seeded 4th and boasting a 15-5 record coming in, outmatched the Seahawks in the third quarter, 18-10, and that spelled all the difference as  the Craftsmen eliminated the guests, 63-55.

Three Bristol-Plymouth players finished in the double digits with Jarren Frade pouring in 22 points, followed by David Garnett with 16 and Justin Aaduy with 11.

It was Cape Cod Academy’s senior sharpshooters Johnny Hatem and Jack Massari who put on a small clinic in the second quarter in a valiant attempt to stage a comeback and tie the game at 32-32 at intermission.

Hatem and Massari combined for six three-pointers in the second frame and 20 points overall, while Will McCutcheon and Aaron White each added a bucket.

Hatem finished with a game-high 26 points in his last career game as a Seahawk and Massari finished with 14 points. Both players had four three-pointers in the game.

Senior co-captain Henry Zezze, who had turned in a double-double in almost every game this season, was held to just seven points on the night, two of them field goals.

Tied at 32-32 heading into the third quarter, the height advantage of the much taller Craftsmen crew overtook the Seahawk Five by an 18-10 margin. Cape Cod Academy did fight and scrap to the very end and tied the hosts 13-13 in the fourth frame, but it was the third quarter that proved the difference.

The Seahawks went 9-11 from the line with Zezze going 3-3 in the fourth quarter but the visitors simply could not get to the line enough to erase the deficit.

The Academy boys finished at 10-11 for the season overall, 10-10 during the regular season.
