Massachusetts Maritime junior midfielder Anthony Kurylak was named as the New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon for his efforts in helping lead the Buccaneers to the best start in school history with four victories to open the 2015 season.

A native of Exeter, N.H. and a graduate of Portsmouth High School, Kurylak netted 12 goals and three assists for 15 points in the four contests, including a career-high six goals in a 15-10 triumph over Albertus Magnus to go with a hat trick and an assist for four points in Sunday’s 10-9 double overtime win at SUNY-Maritime that gave Massachusetts Maritime its second straight Maritime Cup.  The Buccaneer co-captain added a pair of goals and two helpers in Saturday’s 16-8 Admiral’s Cup victory over Maine Maritime and collected 17 ground balls, two caused turnovers and a pair of man-up markers on the week.

Former Barnstable High School standout (Class of 2012) basketball player Charlie Rice has been having a superb collegiate basketball season this winter with the Babson College Beavers. Babson will be playing in the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Final Four this weekend, starting on Friday, March 20.

Fourth-ranked Babson (29-2) will take on sixth-ranked Augustana (26-4) at 5:30 p.m. in the first national semifinal, while eighth-ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point (25-5) will face ninth-ranked Virginia Wesleyan (27-5) in the second semifinal at 8 p.m. Friday’s winners will meet at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the Division III national championship game.

Rice, a sophomore, played in Babson’s NCAA Tournament Sectional Final Saturday (March 14) as the Beavers defeated Trinity College, 76-69 in overtime to reach the Division III Final Four this coming weekend.

Falmouth High School’s Madison Haberl, a Boston Globe All-Scholastic hockey player who just helped lead the Clipper girls to a Division 2 State Championship title, has committed to play field hockey at Division I Fairfield University in Connecticut. Haberl has been a standout, all-star student-athlete in both ice hockey and field hockey at Falmouth High for the past four years.

Rachel Moore, formerly of Falmouth High and a junior at Proctor Academy, has committed to Boston College to play women’s hockey in the

fall of 2016. A hockey standout, Moore is a native of Waquoit and she is also a member of the U19 women’s ice hockey team the New Hampshire Avalanche.

Moore was selected to the NEPSAC Division 2 Girls Ice Hockey All-Star Team last season and was an SEMGHL All-Star as a sophomore at Falmouth High School. Moore was the recipient of Proctor Academy’s prestigious Marvin Award for helping lead its girls’ field hockey team last year to its first postseason in over a decade.

Barnstable High School’s highest all-time basketball scorer Morgan Kendrew, who finished her Red Raider career with 1,544 points and went on to a stellar four-year collegiate career at Brandeis University, recently completed her second year as an assistant coach for the Mt. Ida College women’s basketball team. Kendrew graduated from Brandeis University in 2012, acquiring a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies.  She was a four-year player for the Judges as a member of the women’s basketball program leaving with a very impressive playing resume.  She received the Brandeis Max I Silber Award in 2012 as the Most Outstanding Female Athlete and was a two-time second team All-University Athletic Association Conference (UAA) player.  She was also voted by her teammates and coaches as the program’s Most Valuable Player her

final year. Kendrew was named team captain her junior and senior seasons and aided in the Judges an Elite Eight. Kendrew, a Cotuit native, is the daughter of Rick and Ingrid Kendrew of Cotuit.
