OSTERVILLE – The host Cape Cod Academy girls’ lacrosse team avenged an earlier season loss to the Barnstable Red Raiders Friday afternoon, thanks in large part to four goals each from Becca White and JoJo Edmonds, en route to a 12-6 finale.
Barnstable top scorer and key offensive threat Callie Rogorzenski went down with a knee injury early on and from that point forward the Seahawks were relentless in their attack on Barnstable’s goal.
The hosts built an 8-3 lead at the half and never looked back as Edmonds and White paved the way. Rebekah Nicolas, one of the Academy’s top offensive producers this season, added a hat trick to the damage. White also had an assist and freshman Mariah Van Sciver tacked on a single marker.
Barnstable’s Emma Glover and Claire Deely each scored a pair of goals for Barnstable and Alison Carter and Lauren Lee both added one goal apiece but it proved not enough as the Seahawks raised their win-loss record to 6-5-1 on the season. Barnstable fell to 3-10.
The Seahawks have three regular season games remaining and head to face Sturgis East on Monday at the Sandy Pond Recreation Complex in West Yarmouth at 4:00 pm.
Barnstable is at Falmouth on Monday at 4:00 pm.
