D-Y’s Eressy Shatters Cape Cod Shotput Record at DIII Relays

BURLINGTON – For the fourth time this season, Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School’s Chloe Eressy broke her own record in girls’ shotput, and on Saturday set the new all-time Cape Cod girls’ high school shotput record at the 41st Annual Girls Division 3 Relays held at Burlington High School. Eressy’s throw of 39’2” helped pace the Dolphins to a 14th place finish out of 34 Division 3 Massachusetts high school competing at the event. Not far behind sophomore Eressy were teammates Alexis Whatley (37’2”) and Sydnie McGee (28’2). The trio’s tally was good enough for first place overall in the shotput with a combined 104’10.75”.

The next highest finish for the Dolphins was in the discus as Jasmine MacFarlane led the way   to fourth place with a throw of 95’1”. Teammates Whatley (96’8”) and Abby Anderson (81’2”) were close behind as the D-Y girls’ total came to 274’10”.

Dennis-Yarmouth took 10th place overall in the 4x1660m race with a team total of 24:11.2. Carly Coughlin (6:09.2), Sydney McCann (5:43.9), Martene Jamiel (5:59.4), and Linny Clancy (6:18.4) comprised the Dolphin quartet in the race.

In the Sprint Medley (800 – 200 – 200 – 400m), the team of  Jamiel, Michelle Healy, Summer Walsh and Maeve Terrio finished at 4:58.82 to come in 19th place.

In the 4 x 800m race, it was Renee Levesque, Clancy, Nicole Gallagher and Amanda Crowley who took 16th place with a time of 11:15.6.

Anna McGaffigan, Healy, Walsh and Emma Joseph combined efforts in the 4 x 200m race for a time of 1:59.54 (22nd).

In the Distance Medley (1200m – 400m – 800m – 1600m), Crowley, Taylor DeSimone, McCann and Levesque took 13th place with a time of 14:22.14.

In the High Jump, Katie Holmes, Healy and McCann took 13th place with a combined height of 13’3”. Terrio’s javelin throw of 78’7” was good enough to be tops for the Green & White, followed by DeSimone (78’0) and McGee (78’7), The trio’s three-girl tally was 237’5”, good enough for 10th place.
