Dennis-Yarmouth Girls’ Track Team on Unstoppable Pace

SOUTH YARMOUTH – The 5-1 Dennis-Yarmouth girls’ track and field team took 14 out of 16 first place finishes Monday afternoon at Allan Carlsen Field, en route to a 116-20 victory over the visiting Monomoy Regional High School Sharks.

Katie Holmes took two first place finishes, a second and a third to pace the Dolphins, while teammate Sydney McCan took two first and a second place finish. Olivia Miller and Emma Joseph each took a pair of first places finishes as well.

Monomoy’s Maddy Hastings and Jasmine Garcia proved the spoilers as Hastings took a first place finish in the 400 meter race at 65.3 and Garcia took first place in the 200m race at 28.71.

Holmes notched first in the High Jump (4’8”) and the triple jump (31’6”), second place in the 400m hurdles (75.87) and third in the 100m hurdles (18.41).

Dennis-Yarmouth’s Madison Pawlina came in first in the long jump (15’1.5”) and took second place in the 100m (13.46) while Joseph took first in the 100m with an impressive 13.26 finish. Monomoy’s Garcia was third in the 100m (13.78).

Dennis-Yarmouth all-time girls’ shotput record-holder Chloe Eressy, finished in first place with her throw of 37’9.25, nearly two feet shy of her school and Cape all-time mark set last week at the Division 3 relays in Burlington. Alexis Whatley (37’0.5”) took second for the Dolphins and Sydnie McGee took third place at 29’3.5”.

The javelin belonged to Olivia Adamaitis (103.2”) and Maeve Terrio (91’3”) and third place went to Monomoy’s Hastings at 89’5”. Whatley took the discus throw for the Dolphins with a heave of 99’ feet even, Eressy came in second (90’10”) and Abby Anderson took third place (85’10”).

Other first place winners were Tori Richards in the two-mile (12:52.0), Julia Paini in the 400m hurdles (74.54), McCann in the 800m (2:30.0), Miller in the 100m hurdles (17.12), McCann in the mile (5:42.7), and Miller, Joseph, Shelby Dunn and Anna McGaffigan in the 4x100m (54.0).

Dennis-Yarmouth also took the 4x400m relay with its team comprised of Paini, Renee Levesque, Taylor DeSimone and Nicole Gallagher (4:46.2).
