Dennis-Yarmouth Track Teams Take Two from Falmouth Clippers, Barnstable Boys Edge B-R, Still Unbeaten

FALMOUTH – The Dennis-Yarmouth boys’ and girls’ track & field teams each captured victories Tuesday afternoon at Falmouth High School, defeating the host Clippers by respective scores of 75-61 and 84-52.

The Tom Lonergan-led Dolphin boys turned in nine first place finishes to boost the team’s record to 2-1 on the season. The Falmouth boys are 0-3.

Dennis-Yarmouth senior Arun Rambhadjan turned in a stellar 10.77 time in the 100m dash, followed by Falmouth’s Tristan Leachman (11.8) in second place and Clipper Wassim Hayek-Hounoud in third place (12.0).

Falmouth’s Craig Green – the reigning MIAA 200m State Champion – took the 200m race with a remarkable 21.7 finish, just edging Rambhadjan who came in at 21.8 seconds. Dennis-Yarmouth’s Kenny Dorr took third place at an even 24.0 seconds. Green’s team was just .02 off of his state championship mark last spring.

In the 400m event, Dolphin stalwart Hiroto Watanabe took first place (time not recorded), followed by Falmouth’s Niko Jancanterino in second and D-Y’s DeAndre Bennett in third.

In the 800m race, Falmouth’s Adam Bruce took first place honors with a 2:17.6 finish, followed by Ryan Powell in second at 2:18.9 for the Dolphins and Ryan Giffee in third at 2:31.2.

In the mile run, Watanabe turned in a 5:09 mark for first place dibs and Falmouth’s Jared Travis came in second at 5:21. Collin Simpson took third place for the Clippers at 6:15.

Dennis-Yarmouth sophomore Cam Hayes opened some eyes when he turned on the afterburners to win the two-mile race, coming in at 10:56, nearly 100m ahead of Falmouth’s Jamie Driscoll (11:07) who had been neck-and-neck with Hayes throughout the race. John Turner took third place for the Clippers with a time of 12:34.

In the 110m high hurdles, Dennis-Yarmouth’s Max Parent took first place (17.3), followed by Falmouth’s Jack Koss (18.5) and Mike Ryan (19.4). In the 400m intermediate hurdles, Falmouth’s Ryan took top honors with a 66.1-second time and D-Y’s Parent came in second place (66.4) just behind him. Chris Carey took third place for the Dolphins at 68.1.

Falmouth’s Koss took top honors in the long jump (18’8”), while D-Y’s Rambhadjan finished in second (17’10.5”) and Junior Ducasse took third at 17.9”.

Ducasse took first place in the triple jump (37’9), followed by Falmouth’s Koss (36’7) and Ryan (31’4). In the high jump, D-Y’s Kenny Dorr notched first place at 5’6” while Falmouth’s Leachman tied for second place with D-Y’s Giffee at 5’4”.

Bennett nailed the shotput for the Dolphins with a 35’3” throw, followed by an equally solid throw from Falmouth’s Joe Lavin (35’2”). Jake Peramba took third place with a toss of 34’3”. Bennett won the discus as well for the Dolphins (98’8”) with Lavin in second for Falmouth (90’7”) and D-Y’s Joey Ice in third place (75’1”).

In the javelin, Murphy took top honors for the Clippers (131’7”), followed by D-Y’s Powell (125’8”) and Parent (105’6”) in third.

Dennis-Yarmouth took the 4×400 relay with a time of 3:56.5 with the quartet comprised of Jared Crosby, Bennett, Powell and Dorr.

The host Clippers, now 0-3 on the season, took first place in the 4×100 race with a quartet comprised of Green, Koss, Hayek-Hounoud and Leachman (46.8).

The Dennis-Yarmouth girls’ tracksters (3-0) defeated the Falmouth Clippers, 84-52, thanks to a grand total of eight first-place finishes, giving the Dolphins a total of 17 on the day, including the boys’ finishes.

Dolphin sophomore Chloe Eressy impressed the field participants with her new school record shotput throw of 38’0.25”, while the visitors swept the event. Alexis Whatley took second place (34’6”) and Sydnie McGee came in third place (29’6.5”). Eressy’s throw shattered her previous mark of 37’3.5”.

Natalie Gagnon captured the high jump at an even 5’0 for the hosts, followed by D-Y’s Katie Holmes in second place (4’10”) and Falmouth’s Hannah Cash in third (4’6”). In the long jump, Falmouth’s Lexi Johnson took first (17’4”), with Madison Pawlina in second for Dennis-Yarmouth (16’6”) and Clipper senior Sarah Buscher in third at 15’8”.

In the javelin, Dennis-Yarmouth’s Olivia Adamaitis took first (91’10”), followed by Falmouth’s Lexi Axon (84’6”) and Dolphin’s Maeve Terrio in third (83’9”).

Buscher took home the triple jump with a 31’7” mark, followed by D-Y’s Breanna Whitney (31’3”).

Whatley nailed the discus for the Dolphins with a throw of 99’11”, followed by Falmouth’s Meaghan Burke (92’0”) and the Dolphins’ Jasmine McFarlane (87’6”).

in third place (12:58.9). In the one-mile race, Falmouth’s Caroline Cobb took first place (5:55), but D-Y’s Amanda Crowley and Carly Coughlin came in second and third at 6:05 and 6:06.

Falmouth’s Buscher notched her third first place finish in 400m hurdles (75.3), while Dennis-Yarmouth’s Holmes (75.9) and Michelle Healy (81.6) came in second and third place.

In the girls’ 100m race, Falmouth’s Lexi Johnson won (12.4), while Pawlina came in second (12.6) and Emma Joseph came in third (13.7) for the Dolphins.

D-Y’s McCann won the 800m race (2:43), with teammates Renee Levesque (2:45) and Anna Davis (2:48) right behind.

Whitney took the 400m race (63.84) and Pawlina captured the 200m race for Dennis-Yarmouth at 27.1. The Dolphins won the 4×100 relay (54.85) with Whitney, Joseph, Shelby Dunn and Taylor DeSimone, while Falmouth took the 4×400 (5:12) with Levesque and Richards leading the way.

The Dolphins are now 3-0 on the season while Falmouth fell to 1-2.

Barnstable High Red Raider Track Men Defeat Bridgewater-Raynham in Key Meet

The Barnstable High boys’ track & field team narrowly defeated Bridgewater-Raynham, 70 -66 in a closely contested meet on the road to remain unbeaten on the season at 3-0.

The Red Raiders came away with three MIAA East Division 1 Championship qualifiers:  Junior Nick Johnson qualified in the discus with a throw of 131’0, senior Willie Brown qualified in the 100m with a fantastic time of 11.1 and also contributed along with sophomore Chris Fawcett, seniors Malique Dickerson-Pells and Jedidiah Cadet to a qualifying time of 46.0 in in the 4×100 relay.

Barnstable Junior Ray Todoroff contributed 10 points to the Barnstable victory with two wins in the mile with a time of 4:59 and the 800 with a time of 2:16.  Dickerson-Pells continued his stellar season thus far with a win in the triple jump (40’2″) and a win in the long jump (19’5″).

Other notable performances for the Red & White were turned in by sophomore and newcomer to the track team, Harrison Duchesney, who ran a personal best in the mile with a time of 5:56.

Senior Casey Connor earned the team some much-needed points by placing third in the mile and winning the 2-mile race. Junior Tanner Banks won the javelin with a throw of 130’7″.

Barnstable’s jumpers swept the long jump with Dickerson-Pells (19’5″) in first, Cadet in second (17’7.5″), and Chris Fawcett in third place (17’7″).
