SOUTH YARMOUTH – Dolphin third baseman Haily Miller went 4-4 and Patty Newhard went 3-4 to help pace the host Dennis-Yarmouth softball girls to a five-inning, 17-2 rout over the visiting Martha’s Vineyard girls Thursday afternoon on Station Avenue.
Dennis-Yarmouth stands at 5-0 on the season, a feat it has achieved only two times in head coach Mike Bonasia’s 27 seasons at the helm.
Ali Plucinski went 2-3 with a solo home run as part of a seven-run third inning for the Dolphins, leadoff hitter Taylor Conley went 2-4, Kiley Chapasko went 1-3 with one RBI, Maggie Johnson went 1-4 with two RBI and the remainder of the D-Y lineup each had at least one basehit.
Dolphin ace Sammi Feinstein picked up her fifth win of the season. She went five innings, scattered three hits and allowed two runs (one unearned) while striking out seven batters. She walked none.
The Vineyarders fell to 1-5 on the season with the loss. They return to action on April 28 at Somerset-Berkeley.
Dennis-Yarmouth returns to action Wednesday (April 22) for a noon home game against Pembroke High.
