BOURNE – The Mashpee/Monomoy boys’ ice hockey season came to an abrupt close Sunday afternoon as the 20th-seeded Holliston High Panthers shut down the usually prolific Monarchs, 1-0.
The Division 3 South Sectional first round game saw Holliston (10-9-3) harness considerable control of the puck throughout, as the Panthers outshot the Mashpee/Monomoy boys, 28-18.
The Holliston High Panthers , seeded 20th in the Division 3 South boys’ bracket, blanked the 4th-seeded Mashpee/Monomoy Monarchs yesterday and eliminated them from the postseason.

Mashpee/Monomoy 8th grade goaltender turned in a spectacular game for the Monarchs, minus the first goal scored when Holliston’s Ethan Bagge punched it in just 0:37 seconds into the game.
That goal would be all of the offense provided in this back and forth cat and mouse game.
Holliston junior goalie Brad Arvanitis was credited with the shutout, as he made 19 saves. Daigneault had 27 saves in the affair.
Mashpee/Monomoy enjoyed a 12-4-1 season and came into the tournament seeded 4th overall.
Holliston was seeded 20th out of 23 teams in the Division 3 South boys’ bracket.
The Monarchs’ senior Colin Fader recorded his 100th career points (plus) this season and was among the Cape’s top scorers throughout. He finished with 15 goals and 12 assists while teammate Aidan Sullivan finished with 12 goals and 13 assists/
