The Lady Lions are now 5-7 on the season.

Senior co-captain Haylee Whiteley paved the way at number one singles as she defeated Sturgis’ Ally Bouse, 6-0, 6-1. Lady Lions junior co-captain Emily Canzano matched her teammates success at number two singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Ashlynne McNally and stalwart Allison Santos kept the hot streak alive with a 6-1, 6-0 win at number three singles over Sydnet Barletta.

In number one doubles action, St. John Paul II’s duo comprised of senior co-captain Jacqueline Germani and senior Julia Grady had their work cut out for them versus Emma Esterman and Abby Nickerson, but the Lions’ pair took home victory with a 6-0, 6-4 performance.

At number two doubles, St. John Paul II’s Grace Sohoel- Goldberg and Megan Moran — both juniors — defeated Elizabeth Happel and Isabelle Racette, 6-1, 6-2.

“(The) St. John Paul girls played a fantastic match today,” head coach Kaitlyn Domrbowski said. “Haylee, Emily and Allison set up the points beautifully, bringing them all to decisive victories. Jacqueline and Julia had a strong doubles match, and prevailed with great aways and shot selection. Grace and Megan proved to have fantastic chemistry yielding well crafted points.”

The Lady Lions hope to build upon Tuesday’s victory when they play at home Thursday (May 14) against the undefeated Martha’s Vineyard team in a non-league contest.
