This was the second straight season Landry took the sectional title, having won it last year in the 138-lb. division. Hopkins, who took a second place sectional finish last season, earned his first sectional championship title in the 113-lb. division Saturday. Both grapplers went 4-0 en route to their respective titles.

All totaled, though, Sandwich’s individual scores added up to a third place finish which qualifies the Blue Knights to advance to the Division 3 state championship next Saturday (Feb. 21) at Wakefield High School.

Somerset-Berkeley was crowned Division 3 South Sectional Champion, with Norton in second place.

2014 defending sectional and state champion Greg Zaw (120-lbs.), a Blue Knight senior co-captain, went 3-1 on the day and took second place honors. Sophomore 106-pounder Rob Davison, who finished in 5th place last year at the sectionals, also went 3-1 on the day, good enough for a much-improved second place finish.

Blue Knight senior Spencer Cleary, who finished in third place last year at the sectionals as a junior, also took second place on Saturday. Senior co-captain Pat Sullivan, who competed in the very tough 195-lb division but did not place at the sectionals last year, took second place as well.

Nauset High’s Kyle Cambone (152-lbs.) and Wyatt Walker (106-lbs.) both went 3-1 on the day for second and third place finishes, respectively.
