HYANNIS — Nearly the entirety of the St. John Paul II boys’ basketball team scored last night en route to the Lions’ highest-scoring output of the season in an 80-50 landslide over Sturgis West.

The Lions, now 12-4 on the season, staged a 20-13 lead after the first quarter, increased that to 44-27 by halftime and at the end of three quarters built a 66-37 margin.
Four St. John Paul II players scored in the double digits with senior Ryan Barabe notching a game-high 15 points. Back for just his second game of the season, the 6’5” center also tacked on five rebounds. All-in-all, 12 St. John Paul II Lions scored in this tilted affair held at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center.
Freshman point guard Devan Harrison added 11 points, senior captain Kevin Marsh had 13 and Kevin Cotter turned in a season-high 10 points. Junior forward Jonny Warden turned in 7 points, had a team-high seven rebounds and added five assists.
Sturgis West’s Sean Glynn and Peter Van der Hyde each turned in 10 points to pace the Navigators. Sturgis West dropped to 6-9 on the season with the loss.
The Lions tallied a team total of 32 rebounds.
Sturgis West hopes to get back on track tomorrow night at 5:00 pm on the road at Old Colony Regional Voke.
St. John Paul II faces Monomoy at 7:00 pm on Friday, Feb. 13.
