FITCHBURG — A pair of Barnstable High School track stars, competing this summer under the auspices of the Falmouth Track Club, staged superlative performances Saturday at the USATF New England Junior Olympics Track & Field Meet and will now have a shot at a national title next month.

Barnstable High sophomore Cam Faszewski and junior Ray Todoroff both qualified in their respective events at Fitchburg State over the weekend and both will now advance to the USATF Region 1 Meet in July where they will have a shot at qualifying for the National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships. The USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships will be held July 27 – August 2, 2015 at the University of North Florida at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, FL.

Faszewski, who led after the first lap in the 3000m on Saturday, went on to win the event with a time of 10:13. Todoroff placed third in the 1500m race with a time of 4:31.

Todoroff also placed 6th in the 800 meters.

Todoroff and Faszewski were key components of this spring’s undefeated Old Colony League champion track & field team at Barnstable High School. It was the first time since 2001 that the Barnstable High boys’ track & field team won the league title.
