Red Raiders, Nauset Girls Pick Up Tennis Victories

FALMOUTH — The Barnstable High boys’ tennis team remained unbeaten at 3-0 Monday afternoon on the road with a 5-0 victory over the host Falmouth Clippers.

Red Raider number one singles player Sonny Bisazza started things off with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Falmouth’s Brian Estes and Barnstable number two singles player Tyler Shibles followed suit with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking over the Clippers’ Marcus Dalpe.

Barnstable sophomore number three singles player Max Francis made it a clean sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Falmouth’s Michael Mangalo.

The Red Raider doubles team did not fail to deliver either, with both Barnstable pairs winning clean and unfettered sets at 6-0, 6-0. Number one doubles duo Daniel Dettinger-Klemm and Cooper Hesse defeated Dante Borgese and Luke Knox and Cooper Blaze and Donnie Brodd defeated Ben Helfrich and Wes Garland.

“(It was) very solid. Falmouth is young but well-coached, so the guys had to play well,” Barnstable head coach Mike Sarney said.

The Red Raiders next face Old Rochester Regional on Wednesday (April 8) at home and Falmouth will try and notch its first win at Marshfield, also on Wednesday, in an Atlantic Coast League tilt.

HYANNIS — It may have been a little too close for comfort.

The Barnstable High girls’ tennis team (2-1) took a 3-2 win over visiting rival Falmouth (0-2) Monday afternoon, but rest assured it was a true battle at number one singles.
Tied at 1-1, Falmouth High freshman Julia Moskal defeated Barnstable High’s Lauren Persson in a tiebreaker, 7-4, to pick up a huge win for the visiting Clipper girls. Moskal won the first set, 6-4, and then Persson took the second set, 7-6, before the tiebreaker fell to Moskal for the win.

Red Raider return All-Scholastic Katie Tynan made things look a little less complicated at number two singles, defeating Julia’s sister Marysia Moskal, 6-0, 6-0, but Falmouth’s number three singles player Emily Maness proved equally formidable as her teammate Julia Moskal. Maness downed Barnstable’s Abbi Hatch, 7-5, 6-1, so the entire match truly came down to

Barnstable’s All-Scholastic doubles team of Taya Berler and Michaela Cornwall came through in the clutch with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Falmouth’s duo of Kayla Sheehan and Paige Meade and then the Red Raider number two doubles team of Caroline Young and Emma Doe defeated Lindsey Shea and Emily Gedney by an equal score of 6-0, 6-0.

Nauset Girls Tennis Pick Up First Win Over Cape Cod Academy

Nauset’s sister duo of Allie and Nika Dadoly stepped it up at number one and number two singles Monday afternoon in North Eastham, defeating Cape Cod Academy’s top two girls in respective sets and led the Warriors to their first win of the season. The win puts Nauset at 1-2 on the season and Cape Cod Academy fell to an even .500 at 1-1 with the 5-0 loss on the road.

Allie Dadoly defeated Nell Thornton, 6-0, 6-2, followed by her sister Nika Dadoly who defeated Noelle Benoit, 6-1, 6-0.

Nauset’s number three singles player, Haley Navarro, defeated the Seahawks’ Claire Carvonis, 6-3, 6-4.

The Warriors’ number one doubles team comprised of Anna Godshalk and Haley Benz, defeated Cape Cod Academy’s Marena Gordell and Olivia Doe, 6-2, 6-2. The final victory for Nauset came from number two doubles duo Taylor Wilkins and Carlisle Wheeler, who beat the Academy’s Addy Terry-Walsh and Claire Punta, 6-1, 6-3.
