Alfredo Alvarenga has been coaching boys and girls youth soccer in and around Sandwich since the late-1990s. He is the founder and president of Cape Cod ReUnited FC, an elite soccer club competing in the Massachusetts Premier League (MAPLE), which has been serving boys and girls from U9 through U19 since 2007. Coach Alvarenga took a Cape Cod ReUnited FC group, from U12 through U18, to the State Cup quarterfinals three times and won a State Cup Championship in 2012. Six members of that team went on to play collegiately – three at the NCAA Division I level.

Coach Alvarenga is the proud father of six children, all of whom participated in Sandwich Youth Soccer and attended Sandwich High School. Each of his four sons played high school soccer for longtime Sandwich High School boys soccer coach, Ted Tedeschi, and enjoyed tremendous success in the Atlantic Coast League and MIAA state tournament. Paul and Erik continued to play intercollegiate club soccer at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, with Erik’s team reaching nationals in Phoenix, Arizona. Matthew participated in intramural soccer at Siena College, while Peter went on to be a member of the men’s varsity team at UMass-Amherst.

“Alfredo’s knowledge, passion, and enthusiasm for the game of soccer, as well as his excitement for the opportunity to coach and teach the young men in our building, is unmistakable,” said Sandwich High Administrator for Athletics Neil Murphy. “We are incredibly excited for him and the future of our boys soccer program.”

The first permissible day for boys soccer is Thursday, August 27th.
