MASHPEE — The St. John Paul II Lions golf team broke into the win column Tuesday afternoon at New Seabury with a key league victory over Cape Cod Academy, while the Seahawks dropped a pair in a tri-match with Sacred Heart (Kingston).
Sacred Heart’s Colin Gillis was the medalist with a four-over-par 39 in his team’s win over Cape Cod Academy and Cape Cod Academy’s Ryan Longstaff was the medalist with a seven-over-par 42 in St. John Paul II’s win over the Seahawks.
The Lions (1-1) defeated the Seahawks (0-2), 35.5 to 18.5, while the ‘Hawks also fell to Sacred Heart to the tune of a 39.5 to 14.5 defeat. The teams played on New Seabury’s Dunes Course.
The win puts St. John Paul II at an even 1-1 in the Cape & Islands League while Cape Cod Academy starts off the season at 0-2 in both overall play and in league play.
