SOUTH YARMOUTH – In a back-and-forth boys’ lacrosse battle at John Simpkins Field Thursday afternoon, the Sturgis West Navigators spoiled the season-opener for the Cape Cod Tech Crusaders, 8-5.
Sturgis West is now 1-1 on the season.
Cape Tech (0-1) received a pair of goals from Owen McCoubrey and single markers from Dave Carty, Mike Looney and Jake Dipilato.
Carty also added an assist, as did Dan Puopolo, Jim Creatia and Marcus Aylmer.
Patrick Lawson is the head coach for the Crusaders. Thursday’s loss was the first game of the season for the Crusaders. Jon Peterson, a former Barnstable High School football, ice hockey and lacrosse standout, is the head coach for the Sturgis West Navigators.
Sturgis West next faces St. John Paul II on Monday, April 13, at 4:00 pm.
Cape Cod Tech next faces Blue Hills Regional Voke Tech on Monday as well.
