The Dolphin boys, now 4-1 on the season and 3-1 in the Atlantic Coast League, picked up key league points Tuesday against the visiting Sandwich High Blue Knights with a 73-53 victory.

The Dolphin girls, also now 4-1 and 3-1 in the Atlantic Coast League, matched their male counterparts and then some with a 104-32 victory.

The Dolphin boys received a superlative output from senior Arun Rambhadjan who took four first place finishes including wins in the long jump (19’8”), 100m race (11.6), 200m race (22.5) and high jump (5’6”). Following Rambhadjan’s lead, DeAndre Bennett took home three first place victories for the Dolphins in the 400m race (55.1), shotput (33’10.5”) and discus (110’11”).

Sophomore Cam Hayes blew the pack away in the two-mile race, coming in at 10:59 while teammate Hiroto Watanabe took the mile in 5:14 and the 800m race in 2:09.

Bennett’s victory in the 400m was a superlative one in that he trailed Sandwich High’s Joey Downes until the last five meters and then edged the Blue Knight track and hoop star by a nose. Downes’ time was 55.3, just 0.2 behind D-Y’s Bennett.

Jack Salters took first place for the Blue Knights in the 400m hurdles (62.7), while D-Y’s Max Parent notched a win in the 110m hurdles (17.2).

Sandwich High’s Trevor Delfino took the triple jump at 38’9.25” and teammate Colin Deal took top honors in the javelin with a throw of 126’3”.

Dennis-Yarmouth took additional point-securing wins in both the 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay.

The Dennis-Yarmouth girls’ track and field team was slightly less than easygoing on the visiting Lady Knights.

Dolphins Sydney McCann and Madison Pawlina each chalked up a pair of first place finishes to lead the way for the Green & White.

McCann won the high jump (4’6”) and mile race (5:46) while Pawlina won the 100m race (13.0) and 400m race (67.8).

Dennis-Yarmouth won both the 4×100 and 4×400 relays as well. Katie holmes, Emma Joseph, Allie Moulton and Shelby Dunn combined efforts to win the 4×100 race while Julia Paini, Renee Levesque, Taylor DeSimone and Martene Jamiel captured the 4×400 race.

Anna Davis and Jamiel were at the forefront of the intense two-mile girls’ ace, but Sandwich High freshman Amelia McCartney broke free of the pack to capture the win with a superlative 12:38.8 mark. Jamiel came in at 13:07.7 and Davis at 13:11.04.

Paini also won the 400m hurdles for the hosts with a time of 73.73 while Joseph won the long jump at 15’1”.

Chloe Eressy continued her dominance in the shotput with a throw of 36’9” and Olivia Adamaitis won the javelin with a throw of 107’1”.

Sandwich High School’s Hallie Tickells won the triple jump (30’4”) and fellow Lady Knight Liz Wegman took the 800m race at 2:29.0. Julia Hanson also notched a first place for the Knight girls as she came in first place in the 200m race at 28.81.

Alexis Whatley won the discus for Dennis-Yarmouth with her throw of 103’ even.
