It’s Undeniable: Vineyard Tennis Girls Stay Perfect

OAK BLUFFS – Facing a rock-solid Falmouth team Friday afternoon, on the heels of a decisive win over top-notch Nauset on Thursday, the Martha’s Vineyard girls’ tennis team (17-0) stayed right on course and defeated its guest, 5-0.

Number one singles player Samantha Potter faced freshman phenom Julia Moskal and it was Potter who showed just how formidable these Vineyard tennis ladies are this season. Potter downed the talented Moskal, 6-2, 6-0.

At number two singles, Kat Roberts sent an even sharper message with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Marysia Moskal and at number three singles, Lizzie Williamson blanked Falmouth’s Emily Gedney, 6-0, 6-0.

At number one doubles, M-V’s Charlotte Potter and Josie Iadicicco defeated Emily Maness and Kayla Sheehan, 6-0, 6-2, and to top it all off, Amadine Muniz and Madison McBride defeated Lindsey Shea and Paige Meade, albeit in hard-earned fashion, 5-7, 6-4, 1-0.

Both teams will now await the MIAA South Sectional seedings that come out on June 2.

Marshfield Tennis Girls Defeat Dennis-Yarmouth in Season Finale

In its last match of the season, the Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins were defeated by Marshfield, 4-1, on the road. Dennis-Yarmouth ended at 3-14 on the season.

The Rams’ Jillian Skulsky defeated D-Y number one singles player Tess Ciarcia, 6-2, 6-2 and teammate Maddie Wildes followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Dennis-Yarmouth’s  Laryssa Dumont. At number three singles, Marshfield’s Lilly Austin beat Taylor McDowell, 6-1, 6-2.

At number one doubles, Marshfield’s  Anna Proctor and Nicole Dimitri defeated  Virginia Liu and Victoria Liu 6-3, 6-2, but then the Dolphins ended things on a brighter note at number two doubles.

Dennis-Yarmouth’s Rebecca Khachikian and Anna Bach teamed up at second doubles to beat Lily Reich and Ashley Waite, 6-2, 6-1.
