The Vineyard is now 10-0 on the season and with Saturday’s victory clinched a postseason berth in the MIAA South Sectionals. The Warriors, who defeated Sturgis East/West on Friday to clinch a postseason berth, fell to 10-2 on the season with loss to the Vineyarders on Saturday (May 9). Nauset still remains on top of the Atlantic Coast League with a 5-0 record.

Saturday’s victory for the Vineyarders, however, was no walk in the park. Nauset senior co-captain Allie Dadoly made sure of that.

Dadoly came out firing on all cylinders Saturday, defeating the previously unblemished Vineyard number one player, Samantha Potter, 6-2, 6-2, and it was up to the rest of the hosts to get the job done.

Number two singles player Kat Roberts chimed in with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Nauset’s Nika Dadoly to even the match, and then the Vineyard’s Lizzie Williamson notched a key win at number three singles over Haley Navarro, 6-1, 6-0.

The Vineyard’s number one and number two doubles teams held their own as well, with Charlotte Potter and Josie Iadicicco leading the way with a win over Nauset’s co-captain duo of Anna Godshalk and Haley Benz, 6-3, 6-3.

That hard-fought match was followed with a win at number two doubles by Amadine Muniz and Madison McBride over Carlisle Wheeler and Grace Haskell 6-0, 7-5.

Martha’s Vineyard is back in action on Monday (May 11) when it welcomes Bishop Stang at 4:00 pm.

Nauset has its hands full once again on Monday when it hits the road to face Barnstable (9-2) in Hyannis at 4:30 pm.

On Friday (May 8), Nauset defeated the Sturgis East/West Co-op team, 5-0. Here are the results of that match:

  • #1 Singles:  Allie Dadoly (N) defeated Ally Bowse 6-0 / 6-0
