WOODS HOLE – A NASA astronaut who has spent nearly a year in space will speak at the Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory next week.
Sunita Williams will share her experiences in a presentation titled “Life Lessons from Living in Space” on Friday February 12 at 7:30 at the Lillie Auditorium. The forum is presented by the Marine Biological Laboratory and the Falmouth Forum Endowment. The event is free of charge and is open to the public.
Williams has made two trips to space, working on the International Space Station and completing more than 50 hours of spacewalks.
Her 322 total days in space ranks sixth all-time for American astronauts and second among women. Her 50 hours, 40 minutes cumulative spacewalk time is a record for female astronauts.
Williams made her first trip to space in 2006 as a Flight Engineer with the crew of STS-116 aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery. Williams later spent 4 months at the International Space Station in 2012
Williams was accepted into the NASA program in 1998 and is a graduate of Needham High School.
