EASTHAM – A beachgoer reportedly suffered significant trauma to their ear after being struck by an umbrella that got carried away by the wind. The incident happened sometime after 2:30 PM at Coast Guard Beach in Eastham. The victim was taken to Cape Cod Hospital. Newer umbrellas come with “anchors” to help keep them firmly in the sand but strong winds can still dislodge them and send them hurtling with force.
