Car strikes utility pole, overturns closing Route 28 in Chatham

CHATHAM – A car struck a utility pole and rolled on its side in Chatham around 7:15 AM Friday. The crash happened on Route 28 in the area of Mill Creek Road. Fire officials called for Eversource to cut power so the occupant of the vehicle, who was reported conscious could be safely freed and then be transported to Cape Cod Hospital. Over 2,300 customers lost power as a result. After switching circuits around, the outage was reduced to 750 customers. Main Street (Route 28) was expected to be closed in the area for an extended time between Morton Road and Route 137. and motorists were urged to seek alternate routes. Chatham Police are investigating the crash.
