Major crash closes Route 6 in Eastham after live wires come down

MassDOT/CWN

EASTHAM – A pickup truck struck a utility pole in Eastham around 11:30 PM Sunday. The crash caused primary power lines to come down closing State Highway (Route 6) between South Eastham Street and the Orleans rotary. The driver was not with the vehicle when emergency personnel arrived and officials were working to locate him. Eastham Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

The traffic camera at the rotary showed power was out in the area. The blue tint is the reflection of an Orleans cruiser’s lights just out of camera range blocking the road. Eversource line crews were responding to repair the damage and restore electrical service to about 737 affected customers.
