FALMOUTH – As CWN reported, on August 24th, in partnership with Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis Fire Department began carrying low-titer O whole blood. Transfusion Medics can now deliver blood to patients in hemorrhagic shock at the scene and en route helping to save the lives of people who are severely bleeding.
On Friday afternoon, Falmouth Fire-Rescue responded to a person who had reportedly suffered a significant laceration to their wrist and called for the “Blood Truck” to meet them en route to Cape Cod Hospital. This was the first known callout for the new blood unit.
