Being a Parent Isn’t Easy

Greetings Friends!

I know, I know… I always start these blogs by saying I need to blog more, I promise to try! Anyhow, as many of you know by listening to the radio show lately, I have been grinding a lot the last month or so. I have been working a TON and my kiddos were here, both little one and big ones.

My little ones live with their Mom, and it was their school vacation week where they are. As you know, two younger ones with special needs are a lot to handle, and their Mom deserves breaks. I also need to spend time with the kids whenever I can. I prefer to go to where they live, because, well, my affinity for the beach is well documented. This time their Mom wanted to enjoy the break, alone, and do things in the house that just don’t get done when the kids are home. So, they came to me, and flow ALONE! They did so great! Watching them come off the plane after getting the pictures of them getting on, was awesome! We had a great week, the kids saw both sides of the family, celebrated my birthday, came to the radio station, then back on the plane home. It was great!!

Right after they left, my oldest daughter came to visit. I traveled to New Hampshire to see her with my older boys who live there. My son cooked supper (I paid for the food, LOL) and it was so good, I was very proud of him.

I share this because the kids are all well rounded and happy. The older kids say a part of it is because their Mom and me and that we try to get along.  Now trust me when I say this, it’s not easy. It can be rather unpleasant. It is necessary. When you have kids, their well being must be paramount. I know my shortcoming, I am a bit needy, a little selfish, and my passion for radio is as equal as everything else in my life. We failed at marriage, so we cannot fail with the kids.

Do what you can. suck it up. Keep the resentment to yourself. Be kind. If it was not for me ex-wife’s kindness, I would not see my kids as much as I do, plane trips are not cheap.

Give it a try if you have not for some time. Just might work!!

Cheers!
