If you know anything about Cape Cod, you know it’s not like the Berkshires. Hikers come here for a completely different kind of scenery, and their Cape outings are certainly more horizontal than vertical.
Cape Cod, despite its lack of mountains or other harsh terrain, has an impressive range of hiking trails for all skill levels – many of them featuring views of the water that you just can’t get from Route 6.
So strap on your boots and get out and see the Cape from the inside.

Salt Pond Visitor Center and Trails, Eastham
Hike Time: About three quarters of an hour Begin with the visitor center itself, since it contains a vast amount of intriguing information about the lands that surround it. The nearby, 1.5-mile Nauset Marsh trail has great views of the marsh and the Atlantic Ocean beyond it. A quarter-mile sensory trail features a guide rope and large text panels. Don’t miss the Salt Pond itself, a forty-foot deep glacial kettle hole.

I would google for the individual location to see if their website says anything about dogs. I, too, am interested in taking my dog hiking. Always on leash; always pick up after her!

We go to Four Ponds often. And we take our dog with us too. Great area and great hike if trails.
Just hiked there with friends for first time last week–beautiful waters and wildflowers!
All great places, but all are loaded with ticks. Keep your eyes open, after your hike. Search your clothes, skin. Lyme Disease is not a fun thing.
