Yet Even MORE Things To Do on Cape Cod!

As the holidays approach, there are more fun events coming down the road here on the Cape – from shopping events and food drives to art exhibits and opportunities to commune with nature. Here is the most recent list of activities – perfect for the whole family.

The American Red Cross seeks nominations for its Hero’s Breakfast – Each year, the Red Cross accepts nominations from the public for recognition of people who go above and beyond in service to others, exemplifying the spirit of our own mission. These heroes are honored in recognition of their good works on April 3, 2020, at the Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis. 

Art on Two Wheels – Through Nov. 24, Cultural Center of Cape Cod, S. Yarmouth. The final weeks of the Art on Two Wheels Exhibit includes two great events, both of them featuring record-holder Jody Perewitz. The first, a conversation and Q&A with Jody intended primarily for adults, will be held on Friday, November 15, from 7-9 p.m. Tickets are $20 and include access to Art on Two Wheels. The second, on Saturday, November 16, at 11 a.m., will be family friendly and geared for kids. Tickets for adults are $20. Kids 16 and under are free.  Cultural Center of Cape Cod, S. Yarmouth. 

11/15-12/30 10th Annual Glassblowers’ Christmas and Special Exhibit: Made in Snow –The Sandwich Glass Museum is pleased to present “Made In Snow”, a winter-themed exhibit focusing on all things snow-related. Highlighted from the Museum’s collection are hand-decorated glass winter landscapes made by the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company, snowscape paintings by local artists, historic photographs of Sandwich knee-deep in snow, as well as whimsical snow globes and contemporary glass by the region’s most talented glass artists reflecting the season’s favorite precipitation.

11/16 Casino Night – Helping Our Women’s popular Casino Night returns to Montano’s Restaurant from 6 to 10 p.m. Join us for an evening of fun and gaming. Try your luck at the roulette wheel, poker and black jack. Win cash prizes while raising money for Helping Our Women. Admission is $10 at the door and includes a raffle ticket to win prizes. All proceeds benefit Helping Our Women. Montano’s Restaurant is located at 481 Route 6 in North Truro. For more information call Helping Our Women at (508) 487-4357.

11/17 Cardi’s Food Drive – Cardi’s Furniture and Mattresses will host a food drive at Windfall Market in Falmouth to collect additional non-perishable items to also benefit the Falmouth Service Center.  The event at Windfall Market will be from 1 to 4 p.m. 

11/18 Comedy for a Kidney – Comedy for a Kidney is a comedy show and fundraiser to help our young friend Trevor get the kidney transplant he needs. Trevor was born with not one, but TWO failing kidneys. Now, at the age of 16, his kidneys are functioning at less than 10% what they should be. By donating a portion of ticket sale proceeds and hosting a 50/50 raffle at the show, Comedy for a Kidney will help Trevor’s family raise the money they need to get through the transplant and post-surgical recovery. Learn more about Trevor and his situation, and donate directly to his family. 

11/20 Wine Tasting to Benefit the MSPCA Cape Cod – This annual wine tasting will benefit homeless animals and pet owners in need of assistance on Cape Cod. Come sample fine wines generously provided by Cotuit Liquors. Enjoy delicious appetizers and peruse our silent auction. 6 to 8 p.m., Cape Codder Resort, JFK Ballroom, 1225 Iyannough Rd Suite #1, Hyannis.

11/23 America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Parade – Hundreds of thousands of people have traveled to historic Plymouth to experience a bounty of authentic Americana. The celebration of Thanksgiving becomes history-brought-to-life as Pilgrims, Native Americans, Soldiers, Patriots and Pioneers proudly climb out of the history books and onto the streets. The event, through Performing Arts Consultants, has recently added adjudication and awards to the parade.  Opening ceremonies begin at 10:30 a.m. at Cole’s Hill on Water Street in Plymouth.

11/23 Eastham Turnip Festival – 16th Annual Eastham Turnip Festival will be held at Nauset High School, 100 Cable Road, North Eastham. Turnip fun for all ages. FREE admission. Turnip Cook-Off and food sampling, Turnip Shuck-Off (who can peel a turnip the fastest?), guess the weight of the Enormous Turnip, live bluegrass music with Higher Ground String Band, free henna body art (turnip designs an option, of course). Stroll through the Harvest Marketplace: locally grown produce, locally designed handcrafts, local book authors and of course Eastham Turnips for sale.

11/23-11/24 15th Annual Turkey Shootout and Food Pantry Drive – Join in for a great cause! A portion of every entry fee will be donated to Create the
Good Charity, serving families of Dennis and Yarmouth. An additional donation of canned goods would be greatly appreciated! Shot gun start at 10 a.m., entry fee is $40 ($20 for members). Format:4 Person Bramble. Optional Team Skins: $40 per Team. Closest to the Pin wins a Turkey on every hole! Blue Rock Golf Course, 48 Todd Road, South Yarmouth.

11/24-12/14 Spectacle of Trees – Spectacle of Trees is a such a festive way to help local non-profit organizations during the holiday season! Creatively decorated and lavishly endowed trees are put on display at the Cape Cod Mall in an organized opportunity drawing.Cape Cod Mall – outside Ten Pin Eatery and near Santa’s Village, 769 Iyannough Road, Hyannis. This event is free.

11/24 Pet Photos with Santa – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Agway of Cape Cod, S. Dennis. Have your family pet’s photo taken by a local photographer with Santa for just a $10 donation (cash only) to benefit the MSPCA in Centerville. The price includes a digital download of your photo (perfect for creating holiday cards).
