Fitness & Health with Dr. Julie

A Column by Dr. Julie Sieben.

A Column by Dr. Julie Sieben.

My number one passion is to learn about and teach others how we can take care of our bodies, minds and spirits to live life to the fullest.

This column will contain useful tips, exercises and instruction on how to get and stay healthy.

I will discuss topics such as fitness, running, wellness, mindfulness, stress reduction and many other practical topics.

A passion for fitness started for me as a young gymnast. I suffered a significant lower back injury that ended my gymnastic endeavors, but also put into question the quality of my life as time went on.

It was with the help of chiropractic, physical rehabilitation, yoga and a positive attitude that I am now able to be a runner, cycler and general fitness junkie who has also completed several Olympic distance triathlons, marathons, half-marathons, 5K’s and more recently figure competitions.

I earned my undergraduate degree in Exercise Science/Human Performance from the University of Massachusetts of Boston and my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College.

I have been a group exercise instructor, yoga instructor and personal trainer for the last 12 years. I also travel nationally and internationally as a  “trainer of the trainers,” teaching seminars that certify personal trainers, kickboxing instructors and aerobic instructors.

Besides teaching yoga, I also teach aerobics, PiYo (a funky fusion of yoga and pilates) and other fitness/fusion classes. I currently am teaching classes at the Chatham Health Club.

My mission is to bring the joy of wellness to others so that the journey to physical health will not only become a way of life, but also serve as a catalyst for holistic health including the body, mind and spirit.

I currently offer chiropractic services and wellness consultations out of Chatham Health Club in Chatham, Live Life Believe Fitness Center in Plymouth as well as Complete Care Chiropractic in Orleans. I am also on staff at Brigham and Women’s Hospital where I treat patients two days a week.

My first book, Six Weeks to Love Running, was published this spring. It is designed to help readers develop a safe and long term love affair with fitness and running. You can visit my website sixweekstoloverunning.com to learn more and order the book.

Please send your requests and feedback for future topics.

I can be contacted through my website drjuliesieben.com or via email at [email protected].

Life is a workout. Let’s make it a good one!
