April Fools’ Plunge in Chatham to Assist Brewster Woman Battling Cancer

CHATHAM – The Chatham Fire Department is inviting area residents to the 12th annual April Fools’ Day plunge today.

The Fools will be swimming this time for Michele St. Aubin and her family.

St. Aubin was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer with Liver Metastasis. She has begun treatment at the Dana Farber Cancer Center in Boston.

During her treatment, her husband, Judd, hasn’t left her side, keeping both of them out of work. Their son, Asa, is a student at Monomoy Regional High School, while their other son, Liam, is attends Cape Cod Tech.

The St. Aubins have called the Outer Cape home for years. They reside in Brewster and have attended the April Fools’ Day plunge in years past. Their sons have grown up in the Chatham Elementary and Monomoy school systems.

The Chatham Fire Department is asking the public to come out to the plunge on April Fools’ Day to show the family emotional and financial support, as 100-percent of donations will go directly toward assisting the St. Aubin family during this hardship they face.

The plunge is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Monday at Harding’s Beach.

Immediately following the plunge, the Chatham VFW will be hosting both a silent and live auction, a free barbecue, and other free entertainment to enjoy.

Donations of all amounts will be accepted. Those who wish to donate but will be unable to attend, checks can be sent to the Chatham Fire Department, located at 135 Depot Street.
