EASTHAM – Coast Guard Beach in Eastham has once again received the acclaim of an expert on coastlines.
Dr. Stephen Leatherman of Florida International University, also known as “Dr. Beach,” named Coast Guard Beach in his top 10 list of beaches across the country.
Coast Guard Beach was praised for natural beauty and accessibility, but Leatherman noted it has attracted more and more sharks over the years. The spot has been slotted in at the number 10 spot on his list on three consecutive occasions.
Leatherman has generated the list for over 30 years, using a wide range of criteria such as water quality and safety. St. George Island State Park on the Florida Panhandle was Dr. Beach’s top choice for 2023.
