Mac’s Seafood Acquires Chatham Fish and Lobster Co.

CHATHAM – After 23 years in business, restaurant and seafood supplier Chatham Fish and Lobster Co. is now under new ownership.

Wellfleet Harbor Seafood Company, owner of the Mac’s Seafood family of restaurants and seafood markets in Eastham, Wellfleet and Provincetown, announced the purchase last week.

“Mac’s Seafood has been buying fresh fish from Chatham Fish and Lobster since we opened our business in 1995 because they purchase locally and always deliver superior seafood. For the last few years, we have been one of Chatham Fish and Lobster’s largest customers,” said Mac Hay, co-founder and owner of Mac’s Seafood.

“With the acquisition of Chatham Fish and Lobster, we will be able to continue our direct line of buying the freshest catch from our fishing community and secure access to the best products Cape Cod waters have to offer.”

Chatham Fish and Lobster Co. will continue to operate under the same name with existing staff. Former owner David Carnes will stay on in a consulting capacity during the corporate integration.

In the long term, Mac’s Seafood plans to incorporate system, equipment and technology upgrades to improve efficiency and customer service at the company.

Hay said expanding south of the Orleans Rotary made sense considering the difficulty businesses are having finding workers on the Outer Cape in recent years.

No major changes are expected as part of the purchase.
