EASTHAM – Artwork from students across Massachusetts will be displayed at the Cape Cod National Seashore’s Salt Pond Visitor Center this month.
Winners of the 2015 Marine Art Contest will have their works of marine species in Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary exhibited.
Several works from Cape and Island students are on display and represent Provincetown Elementary, Lighthouse Charter School, and Falmouth and Nauset Regional High Schools.
The annual Marine Art Contest is a program of the Massachusetts Marine Educators. The MME is a nonprofit organization of teachers, informal educators, students, educational institutions and others dedicated to developing a marine literate society and promoting awareness of the ocean world by including marine studies in curricula.
The exhibit includes winners and honorable mention recipients from the five contest categories – high school, middle school, elementary school, scientific illustration, and computer graphics.
The 2016 Marine Art Contest is currently underway and submissions are being accepted through April 29. Rules for the contest can be found at the MME website, www.ma-marine-ed.org, or the Stellwagen Bank Sancuary website, stellwagen.noaa.gov.
Winning artwork from the past few years can be viewed at the Stellwagen Bank Sanctuary website.
