28th Annual Cape & Islands All-Star Basketball Game All Set for Sunday

HYANNIS – The Al Faria Showcase continues.

Almost every year since 1985, South Yarmouth’s Al Faria has been putting on his high school all-star basketball game to rave reviews from players, coaches and fans alike who get one last chance to see the Cape’s very best strut their stuff on the basketball court. The only years Faria did not put on a game were 2005 through 2007.

Falmouth High senior co-captain Alexa Johnson is just one of two dozen all-stars who will playing Sunday in the 30th Annual Cape & Islands Basketball All-Star Game.

The game costs about $2,500 to put on, which includes facility rental, insurance, game officials, etc.

This year will boast one new addition to the Annual Boys and Girls games, the first-ever All Cape and Islands Alumni Basketball Game. The girls’ all-star game will tip off at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center at 1:15 pm, followed by the boys’ all-star game at 4:00 pm and then the 1^st Cape & Islands Alumni Basketball Game at 6:15 pm.

Admission for the all-star games is $8.00 for adults and $3.00 for senior citizens and students. Children age five and under are free. Admission for the alumni game is $3.00 and children eight and under are free.
