Cape Cod High School Golf Girls Set to Tee Off

BOURNE —Cape Cod’s best high school girls’ golfers are set to tee off tomorrow (Tuesday, June 2) at 12:30 in a test to see who will move on to the MIAA South Sectionals in 2015 2015 MIAA Girls’ South Sectional Qualifier at the Brookside Club. (Editor’s note: the original 8:30 am start time was changed to 12:30 with arrivals by 11:00)

Golfers from Barnstable High, Monomoy Regional High School, Falmouth, Dennis-Yarmouth, Cape Cod Academy and Sturgis East will all be represented in the qualifier.

Here’s a breakdown of high school golfers participating and which holes they will be teeing off from in the qualifier (8:30 am shotgun start):

The USGA Rules of Golf, MGA Rules of Play Card, and Conditions of Competition for MIAA Championship

Tees: All players will play from the Red Tee Markers
Ball: The ball is to be played as it lies on all holes (Distance Measuring Devices are allowed during play)
Embedded Ball Rule:  In effect through the green
Immovable Obstructions: Relief from all cart paths paved or unpaved and extensions; white-lined areas trying into roads and cart paths have the same status as the roads and paths, that of obstructions (** Stones in bunkers are movable obstructions (rule 24-1 applies)**)
Cultivated Flower Beds:  Consider GUR from which play is PROHIBITED. The player must take relief if the flower bed interferes with the lie of the ball, the player’s stance or the area of intended swing, you MUST remove the ball and drop it under Rule 25-1.
Out of Bounds: Defined by the inside edge at ground level of all white stakes, chain-lined fenced poles, wooden posts, stone walls, and public roads.
Water Hazard: Defined by yellow lines. In the absence of a line, yellow stakes shall define the margin of the hazard.
Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ERA): Defined by red or yellow stake with a green top.
Entry into and/or play from is prohibited.  Proceed under Rule 25-1c
Lateral Water Hazards:  Defined by red lines; in the absence of a line, red stakes shall define the margin of the hazard.
Obstructions: All cart paths, roads, and their extensions, as well as French drains, are considered obstructions from which relief without penalty is permitted.
Integral Parts of the Golf Course: All stone walls are to be treated as integral parts of the golf course, from which relief without penalty is not permitted.
Playoff: A tie for first place in the team competition will be decided by going to the 5th score and 6th score if necessary; a tie for the individual competition will be decided by a sudden death playoff on holes to be determined. All decisions made by the committee in attendance will be final.
