ELDREDGE PARK, ORLEANS – Ohio State’s Ronnie Dawson put on a hitting clinic with three hits and four RBI including a three-run homer in the fourth inning as the host Orleans Firebirds clamped down on the visiting Cotuit Kettleers, 13-2.

Dawson’s homer was one of three belted out of the park last night, including shots from Willie Abreu (Miami) and Justin Jones (California). Orleans’ third baseman Nick Zammarelli (Elon) added a 3-for-5, two-RBI night at the plate and Mercer’s Kyle Lewis also went 3-5 with an RBI.

All totaled, Orleans hammered out 17 hits. Cotuit’s Michael Paez (Coastal Carolina) hit a two-run homer for the Kettleers.

Kent State southpaw Eric Lauer got the win for Orleans as he went six innings and struck out eight batters while allowing just one hit and one walk and no runs.

Chatham Anglers Down Wareham Gatemen in 25-hit, 19-run Slugfest at Vets

VETERANS FIELD, CHATHAM – The Chatham Anglers poured on five runs in the second inning to take a 5-1 lead and just kept adding to it en route to a 13-6 victory over the visiting Wareham Gatemen last night.

Chatham leadoff man Trenton Brooks (Nevada-Reno) turned in a superlative 4-6 night at the plate with three RBI and teammates Jake Fraley (LSU) and Todd Czinge (Villanova) both added three hits to the onslaught.

Bourne Braves Edge Brewster Whitecaps with Huge 7th inning Rally

DORAN PARK, BOURNE – Down 3-1, heading into the bottom of the 7th inning last night, the Bourne Braves turned it around with a four-run rally led by a two-run double from Corey Julks (Houston). Julks ended up going 2-5 with two RBI for the host Braves.

Braves’ closer Austin Conway (Indiana State) turned in two scoreless innings in relief and struck out three for the save.

Falmouth Commodores Give Hyannis Harbor Hawks a Wake-Up Call

FULLER FIELD, FALMOUTH – With the West Division-leading Hyannis Harbor Hawks in town, the host Falmouth Commodores wasted no time exploding for a six-run first frame last night on the way to a 6-1 win.

Arizona’s JJ Matijevic drove in the host’s first run with a double, then scored a run himself on a Shane Benes’ (Missouri) single that made it 2-0 and that would ultimately be the game-winner.

Harwich Mariners Stage Comeback Win over Host Y-D Red Sox

MERRILL “RED” WILSON FIELD, SOUTH YARMOUTH – Down 3-2 going into the seventh inning, the visiting Harwich Mariners plated a pair of runs on the way to a 4-3 win over the host Y-D Red Sox.

With two outs, Brock Deatherage (NC State) singled and then went to second base on a wild pitch and stole third. Adam Pate (North Carolina) followed with a walk to put runners on the corners and then Sheldon Neuse (Oklahoma) hammered a two-run triple for the 4-3 lead and ultimate finale.

Spencer Trayner (North Carolina) got the win in relief for the Mariners with two innings pitched.

Georgia Tech’s Matt Gonzalez went 2-4 on the night for Harwich, including a solo home run.
