BOURNE – In his darkest hour, former college and later NBA basketball star Chris Herren literally sold his soul for drugs, turned down multimillion dollar NBA contract offers to continue his daily habit and neglected his wife and three children just to get high.

But with the help of Miller House at Gosnold of Cape Cod, Herren “found his soul” again being forced to wash dishes in a tiny back room, day in and day out until he was clean. He has been sober since 2008 and has told his story nationwide ever since.

This Friday, June 19, Herren brings his story to the Cape Cod Baseball League, hosted by the Bourne Braves at Doran Park. Prior to its 6:00 pm game against the Hyannis Harbor Hawks, the Braves will host Herren in a Playing Above the Influence Event from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm in conjunction with Gosnold of Cape Cod.  Fans of all ages are encouraged to come out to for this very important event. There will also be a special pre-game ceremony.

On Father’s Day, Sunday, June 21, the Braves will play a doubleheader at home against the Orleans Firebirds with the first game slated for 3:00 pm and the second game at 6:00 pm.  Fathers will be invited with their sons and/or daughters onto the field after the conclusion of game two to play catch in the outfield.
