DENNIS – Dennis Police report that on Wednesday morning, members of the Detective Unit executed a search warrant at an apartment complex in South Dennis. The execution of the search warrant was the result of an incident regarding counterfeit money that was possessed and passed as payment for food delivered from a local pizza shop. Members of the Dennis Police Patrol Division, to include Officer Jessop and his K-9 partner Bodo, tracked the individuals who were believed to be involved to the apartment complex and attempted to encounter them.
After a brief encounter with the subjects who were seated in a vehicle, the vehicle fled the scene disregarding the officer’s instructions to stop. While attempting to flee the area, the vehicle in question was said to have driven towards the officers, creating a hazardous situation. Officers subsequently pursued the vehicle from their location onto Route 6, eventually getting the vehicle to stop on Route 6 near exit 1. As a result of the officers on scene investigation, two individuals were placed under arrest and another was detained.
Also being investigated in conjunction with this incident is the recovery of a firearm by Dennis Police Patrolman Tinelli. Officer Tinelli discovered the firearm on Bob Crowell Road shortly after the suspects were placed under arrest. Bob Crowell Road was traveled on by the suspect vehicle prior to reaching Route 134, ultimately accessing Route 6. The Massachusetts State Police assisted in the pursuit and apprehension of the suspects involved in this incident. The Dennis Police were also assisted by the Barnstable Sheriff’s Department with regards to the evidence collected and processed.
Arrested as a result of this investigation was 20 year old Samuel Andrews and 20 year old Ryan Hinds, both of Boston.
Andrews is charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Failure to Stop For Police, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Speeding, Marked lanes Violation, and Possession of a Counterfeit Note. Hinds is charged with Larceny under $250.00 dollars and Uttering Counterfeit Notes.
Both were taken to the Dennis Police Department where they were booked and processed. Andrews and Hinds were transported to the Orleans District Court later in the morning for arraignment on their respective charges.
